Washington Wizards forward Jared Dudley,
thankfully, has long been one of the NBA’s more entertaining
wordsmiths, and he’s already endearing himself to the locals that cheer
for his new team.

In a blog post entitled ‘Our New Favorite Washington Wizards Player: Jared Dudley,’ DC Sports Happy Hour transcribed an interview Dudley gave to 106.7 the Fan, detailing the apparent rather unfortunate hygiene habits of former Charlotte Bobcats forward Adam Morrison. Dudley, who played with Morrison upon the shooter’s return to action during the 2008-09 season, was less than enamored with how the former Gonzaga star took care of himself:
“Adam Morrison,” Dudley called out, naming a teammate from the 2008-09 Charlotte Bobcats. “Remember Adam Morrison? He never took showers, he did the chewing tobacco that he spit all the time, and he wore the same three polos the whole year. This is a guy who made a lot of money, too, at that time. He was the face of diabetes, he was doing everything, he was on the cover of college games, he was [everywhere], and he was by far the worst and [most] disgusting.”
“He was playing when I was there, that’s the thing, he was playing,” Dudley said. “He then tore his ACL, that’s when he didn’t play, but he was playing when I was there. He was playing like 30 minutes a game. Gerald Wallace had to force him to take a shower one time. Had to force him. Imagine that. Imagine forcing a grown man to take a shower. He should be ashamed of himself.”The third overall pick in the 2006 draft would have been 24 at the time, and while most 24-year old young men are still stuck in a state of arrested development when it comes to things like, I don’t know, showering, the stakes are a little higher for someone in Morrison that was playing professional basketball for, on average, 15 minutes a game.
Now, none of this makes Morrison a bad dude (as someone who works from home, sometimes I don’t hit the showers until past six in the evening a couple of nights a week), but one can understand the work relationship unease from someone like Dudley – who is actually a full year younger than Morrison.
However, you’ll recall that Morrison had the last laugh. While Dudley was dealt midseason to a Phoenix Suns team that missed the playoffs entirely, Morrison was sent with Shannon Brown to the Los Angeles Lakers
later in 2008-09. Ammo didn’t play a minute during that year’s
postseason run, but the Lakers went on to win the title that year and I
can tell you from firsthand experience that Morrison was enjoying
himself a whole heck of a lot in the celebrating Lakers locker room
following their title win.
I couldn’t tell you if he
showered after that. He’d be excused for not being in a rush to scrub
the scent of champagne off of himsel
