Northern youths blast Biafra protagonists, ask FG to crush move

Angered by their renewed attempt to resurrect the outlawed Movement, northern youths have condemned the promoters of the new agitation to revive Biafra and divide Nigeria. The youths writing under the aegis of Arewa Youth Forum, warned those behind the criminal agitation to desist from it and allow Nigeria to remain in peace and find solutions to it’s challenges.
In a statement signed by its National President , Alhaji Gambo Gujungu, the AYF said it was highly disappointed by the heinous move by some selfish elements to cause avoidable crisis in the country.
While calling on the protagonist to retrace their steps forthwith, the forum called on the Federal Government to take immediate steps to quell any move by any group or individual to dismember Nigeria under any guise.
He reminded the government not allow Biafra to operate and cause havoc in the land, as it did when the Boko Haram insurgents first emerged, instead of crushing it as provided by law.
AYF said: “We are worried by the situation in the South East of the country where some youths have taken to the street protesting perceived marginalisation of their zone and demanding a state of Biafra.
“As the umbrella body of all northern youths we want to condemn the development in its entirety, as we do know that it is being carried out in bad faith.
“We want to reiterate that we are apostles of one indivisible Nigeria and will continue to work across the length and breadth of the country to engender peace, unity and progress for all Nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion and region.
“It is because of this that we are calling on all Nigerians to remain anywhere they are in the country. We specifically callon our brothers and sisters from the south east to remain anywhere they are in the north as they will be adequately protected and we will make sure that nothing happens to them.
“We also want to call on the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal government to act immediately and stop any move that will lead to the breakdown of law and order under control before it escalate.
This is because it is still fresh in the mind of many Nigerians that it is the inability of the government then to tackle the Boko Haram insurgency and nip it in the bud that has caused the situation to deteriorate to this level,” the northern youths said.

John Calipari should probably stop talking about the Wisconsin loss

SEC hoping its improved balance pays off in postseason

He could have said that the Harrison twins were 9-for-13 from the field the game's first 32 minutes. He could have said that the Harrison twins have a knack for sinking clutch shots in key moments. He could have said that Kentucky simply was having trouble getting the ball inside to Karl-Anthony Towns.
There are all sorts of plausible explanations John Calipari could have given for his ill-fated reliance on Andrew and Aaron Harrison late in Kentucky's Final Four loss to Wisconsin last April, but the one he chose stretched the bounds of credibility.

Ben Gordon slims down with vegetarian diet, now he hopes to make the Warriors

Ben Gordon (Getty Images)
Ben Gordon

OAKLAND, Calif. – Avocados, oatmeal, textured vegetable protein, pasta, juice and smoothies were part of  Ben Gordon's typical diet at the end of last season. In his quest to make the Golden State Warriors' roster, the veteran shooter plans to return to vegetarian mode from time to time to keep his body sharp.
"I experimented with it this summer and the end of last season," Gordon said after the Warriors' first practice of the season on Tuesday. "As you get older you try to see different things that work for you. I'm not doing it right now, but I try to do it functionally depending on how my body feels.

"With all the running and stuff, protein is hard to get by [on a vegetarian diet]. … I like to mix it up."
Gordon, 32, averaged between 15-22 points during the first five seasons of his NBA career, including a career-high 21.4 points during the 2006-07 season. He built a reputation early in his career as one of the NBA's most feared outside threats. But since 2009, his scoring average has largely declined. He's also battled health issues.
Gordon averaged 6.2 points and 14 minutes in 56 games with the Orlando Magic last season. In hopes of

NBA veteran Caron Butler has earned a deserving reputation as a no-nonsense professional over his soon-to-be 14 seasons, playing for various teams in different roles and succeeding at nearly every stop along the way. At the same time, though, he's one of the most interesting personalities in the league's recent history. Move beyond his relatively unassuming on-court style and you will find a former gang member and drug dealer with a longstanding (and banned) habit of chewing straws on the bench and a medically unsafe addiction to Mountain Dew. He contains multitudes and perhaps not surprisingly has authored a new book, "Tuff Juice: My Journey from the Streets to the NBA," to tell his life story.

Buhari’s 100 days: Political paralysis or policy crisis? (1)

President Muhammadu Buhari

Act 1, Scene 1: Pre-presidential elections of March 28, the word on the street was that Chibuike Amaechi, immediate past governor of Rivers State, would be President Muhammadu Buhari’s Secretary to Government of the Federation. So also was Babatunde Fashola, immediate past governor of Lagos State, being touted to be the Chief of Staff to President Buhari. Similarly, Ogbonnaya Onu, ex-chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party that dissolved into the All Progressives Congress and Chris Ngige, a senator and former APC governorship candidate in Anambra State, were on the way to being SGF and Minister of Works respectively in the APC-led government, if initial permutations were anything to go by.
These strategic political positions which were assumptions made with the mindset of all things being equal, are like gold, if weighted for their political values. With such

It was really difficult. It took me two years to get information I needed. That was in 2012. We had organised an agricultural fair and a lot of people turned up. After that, people came to meet me asking for where to source for materials and information on agricultural produce. That was how we started. Since then, we have been disseminating information to people.
We built two online portals, agriculturalnigeria.com where people can get information on basic agricultural groups, food processing and other research information. We recently started a new one which is called the

As the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria commences its once-in-two months meeting today (Monday) to review the state of the economy and take key economic decisions, economists and analysts have said it may leave key economic rates unchanged.
The economists also predicted that the MPC might reduce the Cash Reserve Ratio on private and public sector deposits from 31 per cent in the light of the tight liquidity condition in the banking sector as a result of the implementation of the Treasury Single Account policy.
The two-day meeting was held last in July when the committee unanimously decided to retain the Monetary Policy Rate at 13 per cent with a corridor of +/- 200 basis points and the CRR on private and public sector deposits at 31 per cent.

Liverpool 1-1 Norwich City: Ings' first Reds goal not enough as Martin equalises for Canaries

The former Burnley striker netted his first goal for the Anfield club but Alex Neil's side fought back to secure a point with a second half equaliser

Liverpool did little to alleviate the mounting pressure on Brendan Rodgers after Russell Martin cancelled out Danny Ings' first goal for his new club to salvage a 1-1 draw for Norwich City at Anfield on Sunday.

The Chelsea boss enjoyed success against his greatest rival once again but only after Diego Costa provoked Arsenal's Gabriel into a reaction that saw him sent-off

Jose Mourinho insists Arsenal have no room for complaint after they were reduced to nine men in a toxic 2-0 derby defeat against Chelsea.

Diego Costa's antics provoked Gabriel into losing his temper and the Brazil international centre-half was sent-off shortly before half-time, while Santi Cazorla was dismissed late on for a second bookable offence.

Mourinho said: "Where is the controversy? For me, no controversy. The game is about many different aspects, technical, tactical, emotional, physical. Normally the best team wins - we were the best team.
